Artist Canvas
I’d like to try artist quality oil pastels on stretched canvas. Any tips for which brands are the best?

I’m on a budget so I’m hoping to get started with the least amount of money but I do want to use artist quality materials. Any tips for using this medium would be helpful. I usually purchase at Jerry’s but would love to hear of any other discount stores. Thanks and happy painting.

Unfinished Craft
Wondering what kind of stain to use?

I just finished recently bought wooden boxes open to the craft store and I dye, especially with a dark wood stain, almost black, perhaps with subtle little red a cross grain. I think I'm looking for a gel stain. Something that has a waxy appearance. Or maybe you need need a regular stain and then polish with a clear wax. I think the dye colors of black gel or wax down. I am looking for the Asian style. A large number of furniture at Pier 1 has what I'm for research. Before I saw all the blocks and allow the leg to become a small kitchen island, me like this to happen. Does anyone know what I mean?

You really need to know what type of wood you have. conifers such as pine can be a problem with a blush or stain if not prepared properly. A spot of pre-conditioning (made by Minwax) may help level the problem of grinding can also be a problem especially in the fine-grained, as it tends to take more spots. Much more work is needed to keep it looking the same place as the rest of the wood. Normal penetrating stain wood and enjoy the individual cells of wood. Gel Stain tends to remain on the surface. Bartley is a plane that is fairly dark mahogany with a slight red tint One way to obtain a "bicolor" is to spot the lighter (red) staining and soak into the wood. Let dry and place in a very thin layer of lacquer and sand lightly. Then placed gel stain and rub the amount you need to get the look you want. With a gel stain, you can mix the best place to make it more or less dark. This may take several coats to achieve the look you want. It works kind of shoe polish, etc.. Allow the dye overnight and then apply three coats of satin varnish dry. With a very gently rubbing with steel wool between 0000 and third of the coast, the second nail. This technique requires some practice, therefore, in practice bottom of the boxes or other areas that will not run.

Artists Oil
Should I buy "or petroleum oil study of artists (watercolor / acrylic) if I am a beginner?

** Sorry I meant "paint" NO "OIL" **

Hi Amanda, which means a level-students, without study. Well, there are some brands of students who are very good. But sometimes the price for the artist of quality can compensate. As a start, try the quality of students first. But do not buy cheap, because that "cheap" can be costly. Now, let me tell you something important. When painting with acrylic or oil, the quality of the brushes very important, of course, is not something that can be overcome with reasonable. But for watercolor, you should at least decent, or if you have difficulty. And also get a good watercolor paper (Arches is good). Speak by experience. Ah! Beginners usually ten less need to buy brushes. Good luck. A cordial greeting, Joséhttp: / / theartinquirer.blogspot.com

Newton Artisan
soluble, easy to clean water or big mess?

Well, I tried to Winsor & Newton oil supplies in the paint, because I start painting, and have a lot brain mixing oil color water craft. I do not know if it's good or now. I would facilitate cleaning. I mean can only scrape the palace with my knife. ^ ^ No, I was soluble in water and be affraid I did not want toxic paint, so I'm water.

All paintings are toxic, no matter what you use, the room should be well ventilated. For easy cleaning parts using acrylic, I'll spend more time oil and water soluble oil paints take as much time cleaning. I remove excess paint and clean the palette with a damp cloth (or paint scented oil turpentine, if) and clean the brushes accordingly with a special soap. In addition, the paint will last longer depending on the amount, of course, the added water. You treat a wide Master Touch, which will keep your paint leaving the edge of the paddle and the lid, makes the longest painting.

Washable Paint
How to make washable paint?

I want to have a “paint war” at my birthday party, but its expensive to buy enough washable paint so I need a recipe to make washable paint that won’t stain skin or clothes and is also safe for the environment since we’ll be outside. also that u can make in large quantities and for cheap :) ty
I heard of using chalk somehow?… lol

You can use a paint called “tempera” paint. You can find it in any hobby store or most arts and crafts sections in stores. Many people use it for face paints. It washes off very easily. It does not stain clothes. You can even add a little bit of dish washing liquid to it before you use it to make it even easier to wash off. I hope this helps. Chris

Hobby Paint

Painting techniques infallible September Arts and Crafts your next project

For many fans, starting a new project feels like the anticipation of cooking gourmet meals. There is the sense of accumulation, and the collection of supplies and ingredients, and finally the meticulous but ultimately rewarding process of creating the object of their fascination.

Losing control of the painting, however, is like finding the stove is broken, or recipe ingredients are mysteriously spoiled. There's nothing like the disappointment – Thank God! – To view plans provided better hobby go wrong through no fault of his deliberate choice.

But there are solutions even the greatest crises in the paint, and most require no more than a little forethought. The seven techniques described below allow you to avoid errors in obtaining freedom around them first. Prevention, after all, is the best medicine.

– Use a sealer before painting. Sealants as dull Costa material submitted to write a slightly sticky coating, which means it has better first and other forms of spray paint. Coating with a sealant is first both as a manual for the card.

– Plan to take your time, and the use of several layers. Sooner or later, everyone is ahead of themselves, the application paint if there's no tomorrow enthusiasm for the completed project is already taking shape before his eyes. Going too fast is an error: Multiple use, light layers, leaving the paint dry completely between coats. If you use the transparent paint does not work in the same direction but once each painting in a network model, to make a good coat.

– Do not be afraid to use different shades of colors. You mix acrylic color paintings of an original and different from those offered in stores. In fact, painting sold in hobby shops cheap and lasts a long time, do not be afraid to pay a little more tubes and mix together. You can be happy with your "original" creation shade.

– Fill out the brushes. The brushes are relatively inexpensive, too, and can be found in the clearance section of most hobby stores. Plan to buy land in order not to lose.

– OK glue sticks that will be needed. Chips, broken edges and simple happen all the time, especially when working with ceramics, wood and plastic. Is the adhesive prepared in case, but remember to take it in moderation to avoid cleaning later. Glue art little goes a long way.

– Ask for help before being trapped. There are hundreds (if not more) pages and online forums on the use of all types of arts and crafts manuals. If you are confused, or just to get advice from people who probably had the same problems you have with your project, see the first. Always can benefit from the experience of another person.

– Take the time to make your hobby thing. As a hobby are not "essential", which are often the first hit any activity hectic schedule. But the painting and other entertainment to recharge mentally and give us a real sense of satisfaction that easily leads the rest of our lives occupied.

Body Painting Art: Nude Female and Male Body Painting

In fact we are fond of painting our bodies since prehistoric times. In past we were used to paint our bodies with materials like natural dyes, paints and pigments. In some cases we used ash, and clay, too.

The markings that the people make on their bodies are thought to have magical powers with which one could ward off evil spirits or the tribal enemies. Such was the thinking in past. The painting of bodies was also coined with celebrating of auspicious occasions like New Year or a dance party. Same practice can still observed in the indigenous populations of the countries like New Zealand, Australia, the PacificIslands, and certain parts of Africa.

In India the women and men are fond of using Henna. It is a colour extracted from a plant of Henna; it is also known as Mehandi.  This type of body painting with Henna has been a fashion in India and the Middle East since many years. People paint their hands and legs and other parts of body with Henna during auspicious ceremonies like weddings. The use of henna or Mehandi has become popular in the Western countries, too, since last two decades.

The art of body painting is not a new phenomenon in the countries of South America, too. People here have been using indigenous materials to paint their body and body parts. They use wet charcoal and other materials available in the local surrounding. In some parts of America, a material known as Huito is used to paint the bodies and faces. Huito is a black dye, and it takes weeks to fade away.
