Wondering what kind of stain to use?

I just finished recently bought wooden boxes open to the craft store and I dye, especially with a dark wood stain, almost black, perhaps with subtle little red a cross grain. I think I'm looking for a gel stain. Something that has a waxy appearance. Or maybe you need need a regular stain and then polish with a clear wax. I think the dye colors of black gel or wax down. I am looking for the Asian style. A large number of furniture at Pier 1 has what I'm for research. Before I saw all the blocks and allow the leg to become a small kitchen island, me like this to happen. Does anyone know what I mean?

You really need to know what type of wood you have. conifers such as pine can be a problem with a blush or stain if not prepared properly. A spot of pre-conditioning (made by Minwax) may help level the problem of grinding can also be a problem especially in the fine-grained, as it tends to take more spots. Much more work is needed to keep it looking the same place as the rest of the wood. Normal penetrating stain wood and enjoy the individual cells of wood. Gel Stain tends to remain on the surface. Bartley is a plane that is fairly dark mahogany with a slight red tint One way to obtain a "bicolor" is to spot the lighter (red) staining and soak into the wood. Let dry and place in a very thin layer of lacquer and sand lightly. Then placed gel stain and rub the amount you need to get the look you want. With a gel stain, you can mix the best place to make it more or less dark. This may take several coats to achieve the look you want. It works kind of shoe polish, etc.. Allow the dye overnight and then apply three coats of satin varnish dry. With a very gently rubbing with steel wool between 0000 and third of the coast, the second nail. This technique requires some practice, therefore, in practice bottom of the boxes or other areas that will not run.
