Value of Precious Gems with less than 1 carat?
hi all,
i’m in nepal at the moment trying to get a ring done with a silversmith. i need a couple a stones (all less than a carat in weight) and wanted to have that ring done with semi-precious stones. the jewelers here tell me that i can use precious stones like emeralds, rubies and sapphires for the ring as the price of stones less than a carat are not more than three to four dollar per stone (not carat) since stones less than a carat have no value.
is that true or do they just want to sell me glass? as i need approximatly fourty small stones for my design they would make a nice profit if they sell me glass.

That doesn’t sound very true to me- If you are looking for some nice stone- check out this website- you can get great deals from them- I have bought a few pieces from them over the years and have always been happy with the quality. I know that sometimes you can get lots with all sort of different precious stones dirt cheap- like $20 for 100 precious stones- search this site and good luck!
